Tivat Airport Car Rental
Trusted by Travellers
Feedback from visitors who collected their car at TIV and explored Montenegro.
We landed at Tivat on a Friday evening and the agent was already waiting at arrivals. Drove straight to our apartment in Kotor along the bay road with the windows down. The entire process from touchdown to driving took about twenty minutes. Returned the car at the same spot five days later, equally painless.
Rented an Octavia for a week from TIV airport. Used it to explore Porto Montenegro, drive the bay road to Perast, and take a day trip to Budva. The car was clean, fully fuelled, and the insurance paperwork was ready. Drop-off was five minutes before our return flight. Could not have been simpler.
Third time renting from Tivat Airport and the service is consistently reliable. This time I drove down to Lustica Bay and across to Podgorica. The zero-excess insurance is worth every cent when you are navigating unfamiliar mountain roads. Highly recommended for anyone flying into TIV.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about renting a car at Tivat Airport.
Your rental agent meets you in the TIV arrivals hall with a name board. The car is parked in the airport car park directly outside the terminal. Walk from the gate to your vehicle in under five minutes.
A valid driving licence, passport or national ID, and a physical credit card in the main driver's name. If your licence uses non-Latin script, carry an International Driving Permit alongside it.
Cross-border permission is split into three tiers. Tier one covers the neighbouring countries excluding Albania and Kosovo, suitable for a Dubrovnik day or a Trebinje detour. Tier two adds Albania and Kosovo, the right pick for renters threading down to Shkoder or out to Pristina. Tier three opens the full neighbouring set plus more distant countries, the tier the Tivat-Mostar-Sarajevo loop renter selects when the itinerary stretches deep into Bosnia. Pick the tier at booking and the Green Card paperwork is in the glovebox at handover.
The Winter Pack pairs with the ski rack and snowboard rack for renters who base themselves in Tivat for a fortnight then push inland to Zabljak for a few days on Savin Kuk. A SIM card is the slow-burn choice for a multi-week stay where roaming charges add up; the wireless hotspot exists alongside it for shorter trips. Personal Accident Insurance is worth adding for the multi-day driver hitting Lovcen, Cetinje, and Skadar in one swing. Theft Protection eases the mind for renters using the free overnight bays near the bus station in Tivat town. Three child seat sizes cover infant through booster, and the electric scooter with charger handles the marina-to-Donja-Lastva stretch when you would rather leave the car parked.
Tivat Airport is 8 km from Kotor Old Town, roughly a 15-minute drive along the bay road. Budva is about 20 minutes south, and Perast is 25 minutes north.
Standard bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 7 days before pickup. Premium and convertible vehicles require 30 days notice. A 6% processing fee applies to all cancellations.
Most vehicles require a hold of 100 to 350 euros on a physical credit card. Some economy cars require no deposit at all and are clearly marked in the search results. The hold is released when the car is returned in good condition.
One-way returns are available across 28 points in Montenegro. Select a different drop-off location when booking and any applicable one-way fee will be displayed before you confirm.
